So … many … blogs. Here are some more!

  • Kitty McPounceALot
With what is possible one of the cutest blog names I’ve seen, KMP is written by Whimsy of Perenolde (US) who writes about DPSing, tanking, and her PvP experiences.
  • Letters from Birdfall
Birdfall shares her daily experiences in Azeroth. Fun to read and, possibly best of all, she uses the WoW Model Viewer the same way that I do!
  • Lifebloomer
Sioban of Magtheridon (US) writes about her experiences as a raiding Restoration Druid.
  • Lost in the Grind
Lost in the Grind is written by a Feral Druid, Tabeyus of Sen’jin (US), although the author plays a variety of other games and shares his thoughts on many things MMO-related.
  • MoarHPThanJesus
Named for a well-known quote wherein a forum poster complained that Cat Druids can turn into Bear Form when focus-fired. Includes an awesome online utility for calculating the value of various Feral items!
  • One Among Many
And she does mean MANY! The author of OaM plays a host of characters, both Horde and Alliance, although she professes her main to be a 70 Tauren Hunter.
  • Tank Hard
Written by a collection of authors who play tanks of various flavors (Protection Warriors, Feral Druids, and Protection Paladins), Tank Hard focuses on anything and everything related to keeping the nasties bashing their faces in.
  • Wiggi’s World of Druiding
And Stuff. Written by Wiggishanks of Nazjatar (US), the “stuff” primarily refers to her experiences tanking various raid bosses in Karazhan and Tempest Keep.

Also, I’d like to take this opportunity to point out a few administrative changes to the site (I like bulleted lists):

  • New Web Host!
If you’ve noticed any slowdowns in the site over the past few weeks, it’s because my old web host sold my account to another company who apparently couldn’t get their act together. To give you an idea of how bad the service was, Valenna and I were using the same web host. He received a “welcome” e-mail from the new provider. After hearing nothing from them for two weeks, I put in a support ticket asking where my welcome e-mail was since it contains all of our new account information. I was told that they were sending out these letters in batches and to be patient (er … I think account info is sort of IMPORTANT). That was almost a month ago.
  • Blogroll Changes
I’ve separated the Druid blogs on my Blogroll into Balance, Feral, and Restoration subsections with a couple blogs overlapping more than one category. Hopefully this will help direct visitors interested in more information about a particular aspect of our class.
  • Shared Items
I’ve also added the list of shared items I feature to the Nature’s Grasp section of the Guides page. These are articles from other blog authors I think everyone would benefit from reading. I felt they weren’t visible enough at the bottom of the page but didn’t think I had enough horizontal space in my sidebar to output them there. The guides listed there are likely to fluctuate from time to time, so be sure to check back occassionally (maybe I can find a way to easily highlight the most recently added).
  • Ideas and Things
I’ve created a new category entitled “Dreamstate” that includes all the posts of mine that, while not necessarily intended to be informative, are ideas that I have for the class. Some of these articles are among my favorites, and I didn’t want to see them “lost” 30 pages down into my blog. You can find these listed under the Dreamstate section of the Guides page.

Finally, I’d like to give a great big THANK YOU OMG YOU ROCK SO MUCH THANK YOU THANK YOU to Valenna for the bestest Christmas gift ever: A World of Warcraft Druid shirt from J!NX Clothing:

Yes, that's my cubicle wall behind me. Yes, I wore it to work today.

Want one for yourself? Ladies | Gentlemen

Where or how do you find all these other blogs? There are some great finds there but I’ve been looking for a decent mage blog but been unable to find one. Is it that magi are terrible writers or just somehow under represented in the world of blogcraft?

@Lapyx: Actually I find most of the blogs I feature by looking at where my incoming links come from. Whenever I see a new blog linking to Resto4Life, I’ll go check it out. Assuming it has more than a couple of posts, has been updated within the last month, and isn’t covered in ads, I’ll usually feature it!

Direct Heals in Wrath (21)

Do you have a source on the coefficients thing? I can’t find a good source after some digging. Reading the official talents, it appears empowered rejuvenation is the same style of bonus, but did not get doubled. I’m not sure I see the logic in it relating to spell power. 40% of healing vs 40% of spell power should be the same relative increase no matter the coefficient being multiplied by. 40% spell power before hand is the same as 40% after the coefficient. Same for the...

Kelerain
Regarding the coefficient, I think the glyph would be complete garbage at half the coefficient. I can see no role for it to play there. Assuming a full coefficient, It seems to get somewhat poor HPM, but not unreasonably poor (in the range of a current HT or one-off regrowth). Nourish is much better in this department. It does seem, however, to get good enough HPS to make this a reasonable ‘tradeoff’, getting HPS numbers in the chain-regrowth-with-glyph range. If you had...

Phaelia
@Kelerain: The 1.4 change was made because of spell power changes. It was necessary to increase its bonus from 1.2 to 1.4 so that the overall bonus was unchanged. However, since we’re working with +Healing rather than spell power, the 1.2 is actually still the relevant statistic. You aren’t the first person to ask about that, though, so maybe I should have explained it in the article itself. Thanks for following up!

Kelerain
You really got me interested in this one. I’ve been playing with the HT Glyph analysis, and I may have uncovered an error. From above (and your spreadsheet): “CoefficientHealing Touch = Base Coefficient * Gift of Nature * Empowered Touch * Master Shapeshifter = 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.2 * 1.04 = 1.3728″ Empowered touch is now a 40% increase, instead of a 20% increase, giving: 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.4 * 1.04 = 1.6016 This is substantially better, and may influence your analysis. Ht...

Phaelia
@Kelearin: I do see what you mean about the potential for HT. It’s still not clear, though, if its casting time reduction will function the same way that Naturalist does (i.e., it won’t get a smaller +Healing coefficient, despite a faster cast time). It seems like a 1.5 second spell with a 100% coefficient would just be insanely OP. The fact that healing is reduced by 50% makes me suspect that they also reduce the coefficient, but we won’t know until those Glyphs are...
Bear Form Armor and Downranking Woes (21)

Phaelia
@Nyxtaru: Sadly, I didn’t realize Rank 1 roots were so effective until just recently. Poo. @Tone: To be honest, the loss of green armor is a bit disappointing for me, too. With Improved Tree of Life giving an armor bonus, I was looking forward to finding some myself. Although I guess there wouldn’t really have been any with healy stats. ^_^ Definitely going to try to shy away from cloth, tho! Great point about being able to role-shift during combat. @Tildir: That would be...

Yggdrasil
Returning after considering this for a bit, but I can see a way that our fine Feral friends can retain most, if not all, of the (relative) armor that they already have. The 1 item that a Druid has use for that no Rogue (or any Warrior or Paladin tank) ever will- the weapon. Remove FAP from from 2 handed Maces and Staffs (since we want items to become more generally useful to more than 1 class, anyways, and Druids carrying Rogue leather means there will already be plenty of attack...

@Nielari: Glad you enjoyed it as much as I do! @Zackoria: LOL @Tiagantar: GRAMMAR IS FOR THE WEAK (in Battlegrounds). @Kestrel: Ooo that would be some fun. :-D

@Adremma: Oh, I’m sorry about the confusion. >.< Thanks for the correction! @Kalfurion: That store looks a lot like the Anthropologie stores we have in the States. I probably couldn’t afford anything there, either! :-D @Eglador: Thanks. Corrected! :-) @Graylo: Oh, my mistake!! I’ve adjusted the description to be more clear.
Wrath Recap (21)

Phaelia
@Tone: I agree, and I really worry about the viability of a “Cat Druid.” Rogues really struggle to justify their raid spots these days due to the superiority of ranged damage. How can a Druid compete if, as they’ve indicated, they still do less damage than a Rogue even when specialized?
