New Tree-Shirts!

July 10, 2008
Categories: Tree-Shirts

store_preview I redecorated the Resto4Life Tree-Shirts store so that it better matches the rest of the blog. I also discovered that the “free color selection” option ended up getting toggled off on all the shirts whose designs I updated (oops!). You should once again be able to select whatever color shirt you want for all designs with the exception of Moonglade Swirl (whose colors I found to look best on navy, black, and brown shirts).

I’ve also added three new shirts to the shop:

Men’s HoTs Like Me
By request, I’ve created a men’s version of the “Dontcha wish your girlfriend cast HoTs like me?” shirt. I replaced the pink and green with blue and changed the font to a more masculine one. (Apparently, dotting your I’s with a star isn’t “masculine.”) It’s currently available in Lightweight, Heavyweight, AA Brand, and XXXL. You can preview the design here.

Waffles! <#
If you’ve spent any time in the Druid forums, you’re probably familiar with what has become the standard response to posters from another class who come to the forums to cry for nerfs to the Druid class. These nerfs can range from whining about how OP Cyclone is, that Feral Charge needs to be placed deeper in the Feral tree, that Druids shouldn’t be able to use Travel Form in Arenas, that Dire Bear Form should be a deep Feral talent … the list goes on. What do Druids do to these trolls? We feed them waffles! Now you can wear a shirt celebrating this tradition! You can also preview the design here.

Warsong Flag Carrier
Druids are well-known (well-hated?) for their ability to run flags, especially in Warsong Gulch since flag-capping is the central objective. You can now display your status as a veteran Flag Carrier with a shirt reading: “Warsong Flag Carrier” surrounded by Travel Form-inspired Cheetah spots. I like this design best on yellow, brown, and red shirts, and you can preview it here.

Attn: Shirt Design Revisions

June 27, 2008
Categories: Tree-Shirts

I am currently in the process of making revisions to a couple of the designs in the Tree-Shirts shop. I was contacted by the shirt-maker, Spreadshirt, because a few designs were too intricate to be cut and printed by hand.  Apparently there are three different methods by which they can digitally print: digital direct, digital transfer, and digital transfer overlay. Digital Direct doesn’t have any restrictions since it’s completely automatic, but the other two methods have to be cut out by hand so there are limitations and requirements with regard to design thickness and negative space.

The two designs that I’ve had to change are the Carbon Footprint and Moonglade Swirl. I’ve essentially thickened the borders around the design and eliminated negative-space so they can be cut out by hand. Here is an example of the difference between the old Moonglade Swirl design and the new:

The above changes give the design a more art-nouveau feel (which I actually really love), but it does reduce how delicate it appears and makes it less appropriate for shirts that have a lighter background. I still think it will look nice on a Navy Blue which is my preference. The change to the Carbon Footprint shirts includes a white border around the leaves and changes the gradient glow around the lettering to a solid line which hopefully shouldn’t interfere with its comic book “feel.”

If you have been contacted by Spreadshirt about your design being on hold, this is likely the reason. I want to apologize for the delay; I’ve never done this before and, despite having looked through the documentation on their site, didn’t find these restrictions until after I was called. I understand that anyone whose orders have been placed on hold will have the option to cancel them (if you don’t like the revisions to the design, please don’t hesitate to do so — your satisfaction is worth more to me than any commission) or to move your design to another shirt that allows digital direct printing. Going forward, I should have a much better idea of what can and cannot be done and there (hopefully) shouldn’t be any more problems of this nature!

Also, sorry I keep posting about the shirts, but I wanted to make sure anyone who had purchased one was aware of what is going on. I now return you to your regularly scheduled Midsummer Festival nonsense.

New Tree-Shirt Designs and Store Changes

June 20, 2008
Categories: Tree-Shirts

shop_preview I recently discovered that Spreadshirt allows you to setup individual products so that the customer can select the color (rather than having to create an individual product in each color). As a result, I’ve streamlined much of the product offering in the Resto4Life Tree-Shirts store and added several new styles for both men and women. To select another color for a particular shirt, use the color drop down on the product page. You can preview the shirt colors by clicking on the “Color Table” link beside the color drop down. Unfortunately, to see the design on the color of shirt you’ve chosen, you’ll actually have to add it to your cart first. Inconvenient, but at least you have the option!

I’ve also added three new designs:

  • Resto4Life Logo (Blue and Silver)
For a more masculine take on the Resto4Life logo, I’ve created a version in blue and silver without the flowers. So far this logo is available on a set of men’s shirts and includes the site byline, “Healing with a Positive Carbon Footprint.” You can preview a larger version of the design here.
  • Moonglade Swirl
A brass-colored design of intertwined vines with a glowing purple gem in the center (real gem not included) and the word Moonglade in script over the top. You can preview a larger version of the design here.
  • HoTs Like Me
Inspired by the Pussycat Dolls song, “Don’t Cha” (video is NSFW), this set of women’s shirts revises the lyrics to say, “Dontcha wish your girlfriend cast HoTs like me?” You can preview a larger version of the design here.

Finally, per reader Tone’s request, I’ve added a mousepad with the Big Green Blob graphic on it. Never forget what you’re doing in a raid again! View it here.

Tree-Shirts Are Here!

June 12, 2008
Categories: Tree-Shirts

I’m happy as a Tree in Dirt to announce that Resto4Life Tree-Shirts are finally here! The first shirt was generously created by artist and friend Jamie Winters and features a happy healing tree and includes the Resto4Life’s byline: “Healing with a Positive Carbon Footprint”!

Druids Not to be Big Green Blobs

The second group of shirts includes the distinctive Resto4Life logo, complete with (non-animated!) blooming flowers alike to those on the shoulders of our T5 set. The logo was originally designed by my friend and fellow blogger, Valenna of Parry! Dodge! Spin!, also author here under the name Korryna.

By popular request (2 comments out of 6 is popular, right?), I’ve also added a set of shirts that feature a variation of the Big Green Blob graphic from the Druids Not to be Big Green Blobs where Bornakk informed us that Druids would be less special if we could actually rez people. This shirt is available for kids, too, and the design is very comic book-esque.

phae_shirtShirts range from $16.40 to $24 and purchasing one is a great way to simultaneously proclaim your Resto-Druid pride and support the hosting costs for Resto4Life! There are options in several colors:

  • Aquatic Form (Navy Blue)
  • Tranquility (Light Blue)
  • Hurricane (Gray)
  • Sunshine (Lemon Yellow)
  • Redwood (Red)
  • Mark of the Wild (Pink) — the first color I’ll be ordering for myself!
  • Regrowth (Dark Green)

I hope you’ll enjoy these, and if you do purchase one for yourself, I’d love if you would share a photo of you wearing it! Also, if you have any special requests for colors or type of shirt, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do!

Flyv
Hey, thanks for the nice plug for my blog!
Direct Heals in Wrath (21)

Kelerain
Do you have a source on the coefficients thing? I can’t find a good source after some digging. Reading the official talents, it appears empowered rejuvenation is the same style of bonus, but did not get doubled. I’m not sure I see the logic in it relating to spell power. 40% of healing vs 40% of spell power should be the same relative increase no matter the coefficient being multiplied by. 40% spell power before hand is the same as 40% after the coefficient. Same for the...

Kelerain
Regarding the coefficient, I think the glyph would be complete garbage at half the coefficient. I can see no role for it to play there. Assuming a full coefficient, It seems to get somewhat poor HPM, but not unreasonably poor (in the range of a current HT or one-off regrowth). Nourish is much better in this department. It does seem, however, to get good enough HPS to make this a reasonable ‘tradeoff’, getting HPS numbers in the chain-regrowth-with-glyph range. If you had...

Phaelia
@Kelerain: The 1.4 change was made because of spell power changes. It was necessary to increase its bonus from 1.2 to 1.4 so that the overall bonus was unchanged. However, since we’re working with +Healing rather than spell power, the 1.2 is actually still the relevant statistic. You aren’t the first person to ask about that, though, so maybe I should have explained it in the article itself. Thanks for following up!

Kelerain
You really got me interested in this one. I’ve been playing with the HT Glyph analysis, and I may have uncovered an error. From above (and your spreadsheet): “CoefficientHealing Touch = Base Coefficient * Gift of Nature * Empowered Touch * Master Shapeshifter = 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.2 * 1.04 = 1.3728″ Empowered touch is now a 40% increase, instead of a 20% increase, giving: 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.4 * 1.04 = 1.6016 This is substantially better, and may influence your analysis. Ht...

Phaelia
@Kelearin: I do see what you mean about the potential for HT. It’s still not clear, though, if its casting time reduction will function the same way that Naturalist does (i.e., it won’t get a smaller +Healing coefficient, despite a faster cast time). It seems like a 1.5 second spell with a 100% coefficient would just be insanely OP. The fact that healing is reduced by 50% makes me suspect that they also reduce the coefficient, but we won’t know until those Glyphs are...
Bear Form Armor and Downranking Woes (21)

Phaelia
@Nyxtaru: Sadly, I didn’t realize Rank 1 roots were so effective until just recently. Poo. @Tone: To be honest, the loss of green armor is a bit disappointing for me, too. With Improved Tree of Life giving an armor bonus, I was looking forward to finding some myself. Although I guess there wouldn’t really have been any with healy stats. ^_^ Definitely going to try to shy away from cloth, tho! Great point about being able to role-shift during combat. @Tildir: That would be...

Phaelia
@Nielari: Glad you enjoyed it as much as I do! @Zackoria: LOL @Tiagantar: GRAMMAR IS FOR THE WEAK (in Battlegrounds). @Kestrel: Ooo that would be some fun. :-D

Phaelia
@Adremma: Oh, I’m sorry about the confusion. >.< Thanks for the correction! @Kalfurion: That store looks a lot like the Anthropologie stores we have in the States. I probably couldn’t afford anything there, either! :-D @Eglador: Thanks. Corrected! :-) @Graylo: Oh, my mistake!! I’ve adjusted the description to be more clear.
Wrath Recap (21)

Phaelia
@Tone: I agree, and I really worry about the viability of a “Cat Druid.” Rogues really struggle to justify their raid spots these days due to the superiority of ranged damage. How can a Druid compete if, as they’ve indicated, they still do less damage than a Rogue even when specialized?
