Phaelia Welcome, Karthis!

A special welcome goes out to Karthis of Garona, author of one of the newest Druid blogs, Of Teeth and Claws. His first content article, Setting the Pace tackles the topic of ensuring that a group doesn’t stagnate. He includes such considerate tips as monitoring regular mana usage to gauge whether a particular party member needs additional preparation time before the next pull. Here’s a snippet of what he writes:

With very few exceptions, a group cannot progress without the designated tank being ready to accept an enemy’s ire – mass death usually results from an ill-prepared tank. So, the first thing you must ensure is that you are ready. Your hit points must be at full (so bring food if your healers neglect this), you must be adequately buffed (try to remember Thorns, and also check if your Pally buff is still up), and you must know what you are tanking next. This should take a matter of seconds.

Be sure to check out Of Teeth and Claws and help make him feel welcome!

Phaelia Mmmm … Bacon …

This quote from Megan of the Out of Mana blog was just too good not to share:

And I’ll say this once, I’ll say it again — against DOT heavy teams who rush the tempo or even Bloodlust/Heroism gib teams in Blade’s Edge, powering a Tranquility underneath the Blade’s Edge Bridge while the fighting goes up on top tastes so good it should be packaged and sold next to Bacon.

Am I the only Durid (the Druid equivalent of “Huntard”) who hasn’t figured out how to make this work, yet? I once tried this in a 5v5 and watched helplessly as my four teammates were turned into so much guildmate-flavored paste. And were subsequently eaten by the 5-year old playing a Warlock on the opposing team. He was alone, too.

Phaelia Druid Speed Boosts

Vispiritus of Anetheron has put together a guide on Druid speed in different forms at various levels and with different gear and enchants. While it won’t make or break your Arena play simply knowing how fast you’re capable of moving, it can help steer you in the right direction for optimizing your get away!

Phaelia Dark Legacy Features Boomkin

Dark Legacy Comics #103 is up and features a Moonkin/Boomkin/Oomkin/Doomkin (thanks, Ada). As an aside, I wonder if Balance Druids wouldn’t have an easier time finding groups if they could simply settle on a name for themselves. Personally, I’m partial to Laser Chicken.

Phaelia Peesontrees’ Resto Arena Guide

Okay, I admit it. I really just wanted to include the name Peesontrees somewhere on my blog. Nonetheless, a European Druid by this name from the Silvermoon server has written a four-part guide on Arena play as a Restoration-specced druid. Topics covered include:

  1. Picking the Correct Spec

Pees reviews the spec that’s most popular among Arena druids and which talents he considers to be key. Also included are limited descriptions of variations upon this spec.

  2. Picking the Team

Pees summarizes the strengths and weaknesses of different class compositions for Arena, including recommendations for all three brackets.

  3. Essential Skills and How to Use and Abuse Them

Descriptions of the essential tactics that should be part of every Restoration Druid’s bag of tricks: line of sight, Barkskin, Feral Charge, Travel Form, and many more!

  4. Gear!

While not as extensive as the gear guide provided by Mookysolo, it does include some more generalized guidelines for selecting the right equipment.

All in all, this is a great guide for any Druid aspiring to participate in Arena.

Hey, Stormwalker! Great to hear from you! Our little sprout is growing fast, but don’t call him “little” when he’s around or he’s sure to tell you “I a little bit big!” :-)

Stormwalker
I…I…kinda miss you and your Druidic writings of old. Good to see you’re still around, busy with RL. The little sproutling looks a little bigger now! Regards, Stormwalker, of old.

Over two years later and this is still relevant and so very helpful. I hope you are having a blast with your little sprout, who’s probably running all over the place now. =D

Hi, Too bad this blog is no longer maimtained. Thanks for you post though. I wanted to address the issue of lefties. I am on, and use the N52TE. I use a trackball with my right hand and the n52TE with my left, no problems.
