Phaelia Welcome Auryann’s Lifebloom and You

Auryann of Scarlet Crusade is a recent addition to my guild Aegis Hestia. She went through our application process as a Feral, with her furry tail swishing left and right. However, due to a recent influx of Ferals, it was decided by those-who-decide-things that we could not afford to take her on were she to remain Feral-specced. She was so well-liked, however, that those-who-decide-things asked if she would be willing to respec Restoration so that we could invite her. Luckily, she agreed. This was great news for all involved; our guild gained a skilled player with wonderful personality, and I was no longer the only Restoration Druid! This, of course, opens up a whole host of possibilities for Tree-related puns (can’t see the raid for the Trees, leaf us alone, etc.).

Auryann has started her own blog, Lifebloom and You, that focuses on her transition from Feral to Restoration. Here’s a snippet from one of her first content articles, “Oops, forgot to mana up”:

After switching, there were a few things I had to get use to doing again. First, I had to remember to drink up which is something I never did as a feral druid. I never needed mana. Okay, sometimes I did. So often after finishing a fight and heading to another one people had to often remind me to drink up. Oops.

As you can probably tell, I’m pretty excited about this latest addition to the Druid blogosphere. I’d appreciate if you would stop by and make Auryann feel welcome!

Phaelia More Recommended Places

Published on September 19, 2007 by Phaelia

I’ve been trying to avoid saturating the front page with only community posts
so I’ve been derelict of highlighting a few additions to the blog community this week. Now that I’ve put up a meat-and-potatoes article, however, I’d like to direct you to a few great new places!

  • Ferocious Bite

Written by Mooire of Detheroc, Ferocious Bite has a number of articles rich in content. Although not especially specific to Druids, I thoroughly enjoyed her post on acquiring Alliance pets as a Horde player. For a relatively new blog (having opened on September 14th), it’s already shaping up to be a prominent contributor to the Feral blogosphere!
  • One Druid, Many Worlds

One Druid, Many Worlds is a blog from someone who really enjoys Druids. So much so that he plays one in several different games, including World of Warcraft and EverQuest 2. A former EQ1 player, I would enjoy reading a comparison of the games’ interpretation of Druid (hint, hint). A sleek WordPress design and recent flurry of WoW-related posts make this a blog an enjoyable read.
  • Partouf’s Log

What’s with all these rebellious Druids breaking the “Blogger is for Druids, WordPress is for Priests” rule these days? Partouf’s Log is written by Kwast of Draenor and has the slightly ironic subtitle “Druidic Logarithms” (ironic because Druids are nature-based and awesome but logarithms are mathematical and annoying). I particularly enjoyed his article on blaming the healer which, as everyone should know, is a good way to suddenly find a legitimate reason to blame the healer!
  • Resto4Now

Written by my guildmate, Draezele of Scarlet Crusade, Resto4Now is the blog of a Shaman forced into the thankless role of Healing, despite her desire to subsume the world in Frost, Fire, and Nature magics. Drae’s always struck me as a thoughtful player so I’m looking forward to seeing what she writes, even if it isn’t directly related to Druids.

On a semi-related note, you can now access Resto4Life at http://www.resto4life.com if you would prefer. I haven’t decided whether I want to make the switch permanent, as there is something to be said for the “grass roots” feeling of a blogspot.com address, but it’s nice to have the option!

Phaelia Lust for Flower and Dragontouched

Hot on the heels of Aftereight, Leafshine of Steamwheedle Cartel brings us a fresh new Restoration Druid blog in the form of Leafshine: Lust for Flower. With a layout that’s too cute for words and must be seen for oneself, it’s shaping up to be a great new blog! Her introduction article, “Welcome to Leafshine: Lust for Flower” contains a picture of her character that immediately reminded me of a female, elven James Bond and a short confession that she’s tried unsuccessfully to write a blog in the past:

Hang on, there. Why are there entries before this one, if it’s a new blog?

Good question. I’ve had two, short-lived shots at this blog before. I’ve imported the entries, just for completeness’ sake. Hope that’s not a problem, dear reader.

Hopefully a bit of encouragement will help her get up and running full time. Why not stop on by and say hello?

In addition to Leafshine’s new home on the web, the web comic Dragontouched was recently highlighted over at WoWInsider.com. A story-telling comic with a Druid protagonist (unmistakable in blue Moose hat), it’s definitely worth checking out.

P.S. You great new blog authors are going to force me to create new, non-fluffy content (like those Haikus…) to avoid the front page becoming a list of “Wow, check this out!”

Phaelia It’s Aftereight. Do you know where your Heals are?

A warm welcome goes out to the newest member of the Druid blogging community, Natural Perfection, written by Aftereight of Khadgar! With experience playing three out of the four healing classes (Shaman, Priest, and finally Druid), Aftereight is sure to have some great insight to share with the community. One of his first content articles describes the methodology she employs for healing the Void Reaver encounter:

If you are under 8k health buffed, the Violet Badge trinket from Karazhan is very useful. While the 45 resist wont help a large amount alone, when combined with Gift of the Wild (+25 to all resistances) it becomes a more healthy 70 resist. I found the resulting extra orb attack which is occasionally resisted was a real morale booster.

Hooray for more great Druid blogs! Be sure to stop by and make Aftereight feel welcome!

Hey, Stormwalker! Great to hear from you! Our little sprout is growing fast, but don’t call him “little” when he’s around or he’s sure to tell you “I a little bit big!” :-)

I…I…kinda miss you and your Druidic writings of old. Good to see you’re still around, busy with RL. The little sproutling looks a little bigger now! Regards, Stormwalker, of old.

Hi, Too bad this blog is no longer maimtained. Thanks for you post though. I wanted to address the issue of lefties. I am on, and use the N52TE. I use a trackball with my right hand and the n52TE with my left, no problems.
