Phaelia LFD = Looking for Designer

Below is a snapshot of what Resto4Life looks like in the two most mainstream browsers, Internet Explorer and Firefox. As you can see, the two versions look pretty different with the IE version showing my site contents centered and with a cute little Tree of Life waggling his leafy hand at visitors. The Firefox version is flush against the left side of the screen and does not have the aforementioned cute tree. This is a CSS issue that I’ve spent hours trying to resolve, and I’ve finally decided to throw my hands up and ask for help from visitors.

If there are any CSS-experienced gurus out there who think they can help, I’d greatly appreciate if you could either respond here or contact me via the site’s contact form or by e-mailing me at resto4life@NO SPAM!.com. I have a sandbox version of the site that I can give you access to if you think you can help!

Thanks, everyone!

Phaelia Site Troubles

Published on March 26, 2008 by Phaelia

As you may have noticed, Resto4Life has been experiencing some pretty serious slowdowns and downtime over the past week. More specifically, the cluster where my site is hosted has a borked file server, affecting not only web sites but related e-mail. Ostensibly, they’re trying to move sites from the old server to a new one and adding a third file server to help distribute the load more evenly. I can only imagine the hell in which their tech-guys are living trying to get things up and running again, having been through something similar last week.  But while I’m sympathetic, it doesn’t help my readership any! I hope you can bear with me while they get things straightened out. In the mean time, why don’t you visit, read, and subscribe to one of the following great sites:

Phaelia Happy Birthday to Resto4Life!

Resto4Life turns one-year-old today tomorrow (I’m a bad sapling and couldn’t wait)! It feels like just a few weeks ago that I first created the blogger incarnation of this site, kicking things off with an article on what I then felt was one of my best-kept secrets: Aggro-Reducing Trinkets. I was reminiscing with Valenna about it earlier this week, asking him what he thought when I told him about my intended hobby. He responded, "I remember thinking, ‘Oh great, another project she’s going to suck me into!’" And how!

In celebration of this occasion, I’ve made YOU a present: an official Resto4Life, JavaScript-action, 40-yard range mana regeneration calculator! (Don’t shoot your eye out!) It includes all sorts of settings like fight length, the Bangle of Endless Blessings, Innervate, and Intensity and should hopefully make rebalancing your items and gems a little less painful in 2.4.

You can tell how old I am by my tree ring!

Phaelia Hasta Luego

With a complexion like mine, I'll be huddled under an umbrella, a bottle of SPF 60 sunblock beside me!In an odd coincidence, Mr. Phae and I are taking a cruise similar to (but not the same as, unfortunately) Kestrel. We leave from the same port, visit the same ports (in a different order), and will be gone the same amount of time. Valenna and Mrs. Valenna are travelling with us. We’ll be back on the third, hopefully to good news about the Lifebloom nerf being reversed or somesuch! (I’ll be bringing my laptop but connectivity is likely to be at a minimum.) Have a great week, everyone!

Currant Hi, From the Bear in the Woods

Hi. I’m Currant, of druidtank.blogspot.com obscurity. Like this site, it’s a Druid-focused blog. It was originally intended to serve as a way for me to get to my guildmates what I knew and what I needed them to know about Druid tanks. It was a way for me to put up something and point to it and go, “That’s what I mean when I say I have X issue, or when I talk about why I value Y over Z.”

See, playing a particular Druid spec is a lot like playing a different class. Those of you that play Druids know exactly what I’m talking about, but for those that don’t, there’ll be a quiz later*.

Thing is, it’s really niche and was never really intended for truly public consumption (insert comment here about the internet being the most public place in the universe), but the readership it was intended for was abysmally small. Color me shocked when I realized just how many people were stopping in. Still, I didn’t post regularly, and I seriously doubt any regular readership developed, least of all within my own guild.

Fast-forward to now. Phaelia, a real life friend and guildmate, approached me about writing my tidbits for her site, to add a feral contributor to a primarily Resto site. Given the readership she has, it stands to reason that more than just Resto Druids swing by. As Druids are nothing if not a diverse bunch, we both felt this would be an outstanding method of dealing with my intermittent posting behavior and with some of the issues she touches on that are more accurately feral issues.

Rest assured, there will be no site name-change or a derailment of Resto4Life’s focus. I’ll be doing Ursine-Interest stories, tales from the Feral side so to speak. Phae’s site will still be Phae’s site and I’m just a sanctioned interloper.

So let me finish introducing myself:

Hey, Stormwalker! Great to hear from you! Our little sprout is growing fast, but don’t call him “little” when he’s around or he’s sure to tell you “I a little bit big!” :-)

Stormwalker
I…I…kinda miss you and your Druidic writings of old. Good to see you’re still around, busy with RL. The little sproutling looks a little bigger now! Regards, Stormwalker, of old.

Over two years later and this is still relevant and so very helpful. I hope you are having a blast with your little sprout, who’s probably running all over the place now. =D

Hi, Too bad this blog is no longer maimtained. Thanks for you post though. I wanted to address the issue of lefties. I am on, and use the N52TE. I use a trackball with my right hand and the n52TE with my left, no problems.
