Last week’s Community Spotlight with highlighted articles got such a great reception that I think it’s something I’ll try to continue. Hopefully you’ll enjoy the gems I’ve set aside for you (they’re 11 +Healing, 5 Spirit)!

  • Best Looking Druid Set from Horns of YAOWN
Horns gives further evidence of his secret love affair with Druids with his poll of what the best-looking set of Druid armor is. I won’t spoil the surprise of who the winner is, but I must express disappointment that Nordrassil didn’t fare better than it did.
  • Nature’s Swiftness (for Shamans) from Anna of Too Many Annas
Ever notice how all the races who can play Shamans have funny feet? Hmm. Anyway, in this article Anna explores and encourages the use of Nature’s Swiftness for Shamans.
  • So What are You Wearing? from Runycat of Unbearably HoT
This week Runy writes about the advantages and best methods of optimizing multiple gear sets with an eye toward maximizing DPS and threat for Ferals. And with that post title, she’s sure to double your entendre!
  • The End Heal of Lifebloom Generates No Threat from Lume the Mad
A must read for Restoration Druids, this article details controlled tests he performed to determine that the end heal of Lifebloom generates no threat whatsoever, either for its caster or its recipient. This article is preceded by Lume’s also useful Threat Mechanics post.

So true. I know the first thing I did when speccing into Restokin last night was to /dance /dance /dance the night away. And then I Moonfire-spammed a squirrel.

Arena Pole Dancer Shirt

To celebrate her blog’s 100,000th visitor, Megan from Out of Mana decided to give away an autographed PvP-themed T-Shirt to the lucky winner. She had some great ideas and, in thanks for letting her sell the design myself, I offered to execute my favorite: Arena Pole Dancer. Here’s a preview of the shirt, both front and back (not to scale):

Shirt Back

This shirt is now available within the Resto4Life Tree-Shirts store, albeit without the “Out of Mana” design on the back because printing two designs on a shirt increases the shirt price significantly. I prefer this design on red, yellow, brown, white, or even black shirts, but free color selection is enabled for all of them. You can read more about the T-Shirt winners (all four of them) at Megan’s post #100,000 Winnars, Shapeshifted Indeed.

  • Grumble ‘N’ Autumn
Written by a husband and wife who play Hunters on the Shandris server, Grumble ‘n’ Autumn details their in-game explorations.
  • Hoofed Hybrid
Formerly the author of the blog entitled Lifebloom, Boudi of Feathermoon (US) now writes about both her Druid and her baby Shaman on Hoofed Hybrid!
  • An Old Druid’s New Druid
The Alliance welcomes a Tauren-become-Night Elf Druid who enjoys raiding casually and apparently enjoys Druids enough to roll a second.
  • Secret Agent Cat
Tigerfeet writes an entertaining and cleverly-themed Feral blog. They’ve give her a Mangle and taken away her Mane.
  • ThinkTank
This blog explores the role of tanking from the perspective of multiple tanking classes. There seems to be a plethora of great Feral-related articles, though!
  • Unpack Your Adjectives
You did pack your adjectives, right? After all, you never know when you’re going to need words like: Feral, Wry, and PvP-oriented. In fact, those words would come in handy if asked to describe this blog!

This week’s Featured Artwork comes from Orsolya Berecz.  Be sure to check out all of her great work at her DeviantART gallery under username ShakSaag. (Wow, can you tell I listened to NPR on the way into work this morning?)

Oddly, I picked tier 1. Nordrassil would have been the winner for color scheme, but I have never cared for the shoulders or the helm design. I like the t4 better in appearance for both of those, but the color scheme is so terrible. I was surprised that t3 did so well…I honestly prefer the Moonglade set that stole the model, and the only part of that I like at all is the helm and shoulders model, but the color scheme on t3 is atrocious.

    @Runy: NP - grats again! ;-)

    @Horns: You’re welcome! Great taste!

@Yggdrasil: I never could get over the fact that Wildheart had dead birds on its shoulders — or the fact that after more than 70 UBRS runs, my Wildheart tunic never dropped. That is until TBC. =/

@Tigerfeet: You’re welcome! Love the new blog. =)

@Kal: I’m glad to help - keep up the great work!

Community Spotlight: Art from Andrige and More Blogs (3)

Flyv
Hey, thanks for the nice plug for my blog!
Direct Heals in Wrath (21)

Kelerain
Do you have a source on the coefficients thing? I can’t find a good source after some digging. Reading the official talents, it appears empowered rejuvenation is the same style of bonus, but did not get doubled. I’m not sure I see the logic in it relating to spell power. 40% of healing vs 40% of spell power should be the same relative increase no matter the coefficient being multiplied by. 40% spell power before hand is the same as 40% after the coefficient. Same for the...

Kelerain
Regarding the coefficient, I think the glyph would be complete garbage at half the coefficient. I can see no role for it to play there. Assuming a full coefficient, It seems to get somewhat poor HPM, but not unreasonably poor (in the range of a current HT or one-off regrowth). Nourish is much better in this department. It does seem, however, to get good enough HPS to make this a reasonable ‘tradeoff’, getting HPS numbers in the chain-regrowth-with-glyph range. If you had...

Phaelia
@Kelerain: The 1.4 change was made because of spell power changes. It was necessary to increase its bonus from 1.2 to 1.4 so that the overall bonus was unchanged. However, since we’re working with +Healing rather than spell power, the 1.2 is actually still the relevant statistic. You aren’t the first person to ask about that, though, so maybe I should have explained it in the article itself. Thanks for following up!

Kelerain
You really got me interested in this one. I’ve been playing with the HT Glyph analysis, and I may have uncovered an error. From above (and your spreadsheet): “CoefficientHealing Touch = Base Coefficient * Gift of Nature * Empowered Touch * Master Shapeshifter = 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.2 * 1.04 = 1.3728″ Empowered touch is now a 40% increase, instead of a 20% increase, giving: 1.0 * 1.1 * 1.4 * 1.04 = 1.6016 This is substantially better, and may influence your analysis. Ht...

Phaelia
@Kelearin: I do see what you mean about the potential for HT. It’s still not clear, though, if its casting time reduction will function the same way that Naturalist does (i.e., it won’t get a smaller +Healing coefficient, despite a faster cast time). It seems like a 1.5 second spell with a 100% coefficient would just be insanely OP. The fact that healing is reduced by 50% makes me suspect that they also reduce the coefficient, but we won’t know until those Glyphs are...
Bear Form Armor and Downranking Woes (21)

Phaelia
@Nyxtaru: Sadly, I didn’t realize Rank 1 roots were so effective until just recently. Poo. @Tone: To be honest, the loss of green armor is a bit disappointing for me, too. With Improved Tree of Life giving an armor bonus, I was looking forward to finding some myself. Although I guess there wouldn’t really have been any with healy stats. ^_^ Definitely going to try to shy away from cloth, tho! Great point about being able to role-shift during combat. @Tildir: That would be...

@Nielari: Glad you enjoyed it as much as I do! @Zackoria: LOL @Tiagantar: GRAMMAR IS FOR THE WEAK (in Battlegrounds). @Kestrel: Ooo that would be some fun. :-D
Community Spotlight (7)

Phaelia
@Adremma: Oh, I’m sorry about the confusion. >.< Thanks for the correction! @Kalfurion: That store looks a lot like the Anthropologie stores we have in the States. I probably couldn’t afford anything there, either! :-D @Eglador: Thanks. Corrected! :-) @Graylo: Oh, my mistake!! I’ve adjusted the description to be more clear.
Wrath Recap (21)

Phaelia
@Tone: I agree, and I really worry about the viability of a “Cat Druid.” Rogues really struggle to justify their raid spots these days due to the superiority of ranged damage. How can a Druid compete if, as they’ve indicated, they still do less damage than a Rogue even when specialized?
