Most of you are probably already familiar with the sexiness that is our current 51 point talent, Flourish:

But did you know that it looks as good as it sounds? Reader and beta-tester Kaera sends in the following screenshot of her casting Flourish on herself and three groupmates (click for the full version):
Now we Resto-types have something else to look forward to in the expansion. Thanks for sharing, Kaera!

Omen of Clarity will be one of the new “must-have” talents for all Druids, proccing off not only melee abilities but spells of all types. Learn about the expected proc rate and estimated MP5 value of this 11-point Restoration talent.
Yay for more leaves and ribbons! That was 1 thing I always hated about Lifebloom, it was so graphically underwhelming, people often never know they are getting heals. I dunno how many times I’ve had arguments with agitated tanks and DPSers who I’ve had to refer to their combat log to show them that, yes, they were receiving heals. By the same token, its always tickled me a little to have a trail of ribbons behind me as I run, or as I get knocked through the air by something. Good to see more of this coming!
Flourish has a corresponding Whooshy sound too. It’s by far the flashiest spell Druids have short of Tranquility. I can actually see people complaining that Flourish has too much fanfare to go along with it, as I think Trees will be using this spell often.
As for actual numbers, with 1280 spellpower (2400-something live) Rank 1 Flourish was ticking for 497 on the first tick, then dropping about 40 per tick, and ticking once per second. It works with clearcasting. Mana cost for Rank 1 in tree on beta was is 468, and there were no addtional ranks on the trainer. It functions as a beefy 5 person lifebloom, without the bloom at the end. (For reference, at 1280 a single lifebloom ticks for 331 in beta)
Not sure if it works with Gift of the Earthmother, I wasn’t able to verify that GotEM was even working on beta. Replenish I tested and confirmed it is not working yet.
Can you imagine all those people though with leaves in their faces now? Trying to swat away all those green and yellow leaves “bah! shoo! Go away!” I notice the leaves don’t accumulate around Kaeras face and shoulders. Perhaps a conspiracy for us druids to get back at all the pesky dps whining about not getting enough heals… “You like your heals now!? HAHAHAHAA!”
Can anyone say how much 15 yards is? it is very nice healing for 5 players in 15 yards… but how much is it? Must everyone hug 1 target to be in the 15 yards? How big is the current area of starfire? Is there a addon that shows the distance?
I think starfire has about 30 yards range right now (not improved) and all healing spells about 40 yards, so… 15 yards is not that far.
I get the feeling we’ll be downranking Flourish quite a bit For 450 mana or so, 1200 restored to 5 people over 3 seconds (and about 2400 over 7) is pretty good, especially just to top up DPSers.
Wowhead has a listing for 4 ranks of flourish – something that would make sense seeing as a the first spell comes talented at 60. So on wowhead (not in the beta itself) we’re seeing:
Rank 1 585 mana 1610 healing (over 7) level 60
Rank 2 745 mana 2212 healing (over 7) level 70
Rank 3 960 mana 3773 healing (over 7) level 75
Rank 4 1125 mana 4410 healing (over 7) level 80
Apparently Kaera reports just one rank currently in-game/implemented. I’m definitely seeing some downranking happening if there is more than one rank, even with our legendary druid mana regen capabilites. But it will be interesting to see weather they stick with just one rank, or open it up in the future.
Hate to reply to myself – but it seems according to mmo-champion and blizzard that new data is up. Flourish mana cost got reduced to 450 and its healing suffered a hit to 672hp instead of 1610. We’ll have to see where things end up in the final count, but it seems like they’re tinkering with tree-form-balance. Speaking of which tree-form mana cost shift was changed from 28% base mana to 987 mana (static) which seems a wee bit harsh for level 50 when you can get it, but lacking a movement penalty, and being able to cast all spells in it at the moment, it seems like we won’t be practicing shifting-in-and-out rapidfire, and with master-shapershifter being so conveniently located it will probably be more affordable.
@Yggdrasil: Maybe they made Lifebloom graphically simple because it includes a “BLING!” sound when its end bloom expires. But I definitely agree; yay for more leaves and ribbons!
@Kaera: Oooo, well there goes the “BLING” theory, haha. Thanks for the information and image!
@Zackoria: Haha.
Revenge is a dish best served with a side of leaves and ribbons!
@Thalosar: My guess is that Flourish will be most often used on the tank and — consquently — surrounding melee since its effect counts as a HoT and will bolster the healing done by Nourish. I haven’t had much luck with an addon to show range, but I know Hunters must use something.
@Karmakin: You might not be downranking if the amount healed is reduced to what it supposedly has been on the beta talent trees preview. (Though it’s still not clear how accurate that is. /sigh)
@Zaira: Thanks for the update.
As you can see, I’ve posted that information as a separate article.
Hey Guys,
Here is a link to a video I frapsed of the new spell Flourish. It is on a private beta server so the healing coefficients might not be accurate. It should give you a good idea of what to expect. Ohh ya, and it in this video it heals a bit more than 5 targets

Note, there is some server lag at one point.
@Drood: Oh, neat! The sound associated with the spell is definitely quite whooshy (not to be confused with Wuoshi of Mario Brothers fame).
