Episode 38 of the Epic Dolls podcast includes a flattering feature on Resto4Life’s Mana Regeneration Calculator including a step-by-step of how one of its authors uses it to determine her personal rate of effective regeneration for the Leotheras the Blind fight. This is in addition to yesterday’s feature over at WoW Insider! Huzzah!
If you haven’t checked out Epic Dolls before, it’s a well-polished, all-female podcast that touches on several aspects of the game. Episode 38 also includes a discussion of War Chief Thrall’s background, help with spell rotations for leveling a Paladin, advice on roleplaying as a Rogue (don’t you just ninja loot everything?), help with the macros system, and more. Epic Dolls has a broad appeal for a wide base of players and is just plain fun to listen to. Check them out!
The Twisted Nether Blogcast
On a related note, a group of bloggers (Bre from Gun Lovin’ Dwarf Chick and Fimlys of Asleep at the WoW so far) have created a new "blogcast" called Twisted Nether that includes not just information about the World of Warcraft but about blogging and the WoW blogging community, too! They’ve released their first episode already, and it’s a great listen, whether you’re a blogger or not. Give them a listen!

You forgot the other “resto” class in your calculator.
Shaman.
@Bob: Shamans could be included but it wouldn’t really be relevant as they don’t have talents like Intensity or Meditation. Instead, their mana regeneration is based around the use of things like totems and Water Shield. These two dynamics are vastly different than the ones factored into the MRC (which focuses on those classes that are Spirit/Intellect-based rather than MP5 based). For the same reason, it doesn’t attempt to address regeneration for Paladins.
From 2.4 Mana Regen: The Basics:
The MRC was originally built for Druids but there were natural, easily added changes that made it applicable to Priests and Mages. Not so for Shamans who essentially operate off an entirely different framework.
I saw that you were featured at WoWinsider the other day and I did a /cheer! ^_^
I’ve never heard of this Epic dolls before though. Now I must investigate.
I also agree that as far as regen is concerned shammys and pallys are in leagues of their own. Shammys are pretty easy to itemize for regen so aside from Mana Tide I don’t see any reason to include them in the calculator. Pallys might be interesting to calculate though.
Edit: gah! /facepalm, just delete the first one hehe
@Zackoria: I think that Paladins *would* be interesting to calculate … for a Paladin blog.
They just have so many more parameters (spell crit, for instance) that don’t apply to Druids or factor into any of the formulas used for the current MRC. Maybe we’ll get lucky and this topic will be tackled by a great Paladin blogger. I made the JavaScript highly visible in the hopes that others would be inspired to build their own utilities.
Hiya! Thanks for the link back and for your work on the calculator. =)
You’re very welcome, Leala! Keep up the great work!
