Phaelia Blood Elf Druids … Who Knew?

zhevra_whitephae_belfI was super-duper lucky to nab an [Orb of Sin'dorei] from Magister’s Terrace this week, giving me the ability to turn into a pretty, ginger-haired Blood Elf Druid for 5 minutes out of every 30. (And thanks to afore-mentioned Ghost Pulse addon, I never miss the timer!) Unfortunately, this means I don’t use Tree of Life for that period of time, which deprives me of a certain someone’s beautiful shapeshift skins. On a related note, MMO Champion is reporting that several modified Zhevra mount skins have been added to the game on the PTR. Maybe it’s not very patriotic, but I’d love to trade in my [Reins of the Frostsaber] for one!

    Ive so wanted one of those orbs ever since MGT came out. It dropped in one my groups and one of our hunters got it (”BRB, dancing in shatt for 5 min”). Oh well. At least i have the little phoenix pet off Kael. That is the best vanity pet ever for a ToL druid (even beats the Woppletinger). Come on! A fiery little bird following a huge tree around, can’t get much better than that. ^_^

    And it’s ok Phae, ive been waiting to trade my Stormsaber in for one of the new mounts for awhile now. It’s a race to see whether another white cock will drop off Kael, those Zhevra mounts come out, or i finally get a chance at a bear mount (only 2 healers for a 4 timer ZA and the shaman still needs his shield off dragonhawk so im on the bench for now =/). I am personally waiting out for a bear since it would be so cool to pop right into bear form after i dismount. I still wear my Cenarion Expedition tabard to feel patriotic.

    Psh, why you worried about patriotism? For every five minutes out of 30 you’re the enemy anyway :P

    During the holiday season, I had the chance to pretend I was the world’s first Gnomish Druid/Hunter Hybrid! …on the payroll of the Argent Dawn no less! (They’re not very picky about who they throw into the front lines! :-) )

    @Phae:

    This is mildly off topic, but I think ’tis better to put it here than in an old post:

    Would you be willing to do a small review of http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34471 as compared to other trinkets that you’ve done before? How useful is it really? I don’t see myself getting it any time soon, but if it’s worth aiming for, our fellow trees need to snag it.

    @Zackoria: You know I figured the Phoenix wouldn’t fit for a Tree of Life because of the fire, but you make an excellent point. I’d still rather see it on my husband’s Gnome Mage (even if he is Frost/Arcane). I am really curious how those Zhevra mounts will be obtained or if they’re even planned to be added to the game. Maybe it’s something for Wrath of the Lich King? I can’t really think of a Reputation that would make sense for them since they don’t appear in Outland and really only associated with the Barrens (I tried running my n00bie level 12 Hunter over there to try to tame one only to discover they were flagged “NO TAME”).

    @Bellwether: I’m sure I don’t know WHAT you’re talking about! ^_^ And is it sad that I’m looking forward to being able to change Phaelia’s hairstyle in WotLK because it means I’ll also be able to change my Blood Elf’s hairstyle by default? LOL

    @Tone: That’s … just .. weird. ^_^ Ho ho ho! I guess. =)

    @Mynd: I was actually fairly excited when that item dropped for me in MgT. I was happily clicking away for my free 2K heal every 2 minutes, when it was pointed out to me that the trinket is actually pretty lackluster. I mean, a Lifebloom heals for more than that and only takes 176 mana (in Tree form). On the bright side, it doesn’t use a GCD. I was using it paired with my NS + HT macro (usable every three minutes), but I’ve since banked it due to being underwhelmed overall.

    That trinket as Phae said is really lackluster for a ToL. Mana regen now is an overvalued stat for us and there are better regen trinkets. On the use affect, while the trinket can crit it does not benefit from +healing and compared to our other heals it really isn’t all that much. Also keep in mind that 2k is the max and that you have to charge it before use.
    It’s decent for a pally in PvP since they only have Holy Shock to begin with for an insta heal. Other than that it could be viewed as a decent regen trinket for beginer healers who need mp5 bad, but how you got it in the first place if your a healer just starting out desperate for regen when it drops off that anoying boss is beyond me (maybe a respec?). I am actually glad that it has only dropped once for me. I let the tankadin have it. Id rather have the tank and melee dps trinkets to tell you the truth.

Living Seed, Replenish, and Gift of the Earthmother (15)

Phaelia
@Perrin: Thank you for the clarification. Your description of the interaction between the two is very succinct and easy to understand so I’ve adopted your wording above. I hope that’s okay. :-) @Kiryn: Have you considered the fact that Rejuvenation + Swiftmend is a 1.5 second cast while Regrowth is only 2? I know that you aren’t having trouble with mana, but a Regrowth will hit harder and provide more potential benefits (crit = Nature’s Grace and possibly Living...

Kloro
Even though Replenish gives utility to Rejuvenation, my job is healing and I won’t put talent points in something that doesn’t explicitly contribute to healing. The only time I use Rejuvenation in a raid setting is when I need to Swiftmend someone who doesn’t already have a HoT on them. It simply is too slow and weak to be of use before another healer tops up the player.

Werebeef
I don’t think viewing living seed as a % of total healing is really the best way to look at it. It’s great for helping a player that is at very low health get back up to very high health and do so quickly. You don’t look at nature’s swiftness as a percentage of overall healing. I don’t think it makes that much sense here either. It’s also a talent that is better when the content is hard, when you have less overhealing. There’s also something...

Kalfurion
Hi Phae, long time no talk. I want to point out that I’m 0/0/71 and I love it. I don’t really find the talents in the balance tree to be that useful for my needs. I’m in a raiding guild as I’m sure you know and the three talents you spoke about suit my needs so well. My rogues, DK’s and our feral druid love me when I keep a rejuv on them for replenish. I’ve joined pugs and people look at my spec and make silly jokes and I don’t know why,...

Kiryn
I really like Replenish, personally. I find myself with far more mana regen than I need in most boss fights, so mana conservation isn’t much of an issue for me. I don’t even know why I carry mana potions if I never use them, and I’m far more likely to be innervating the priests than myself. I often treat rejuv-swiftmend as a near-instant 8k heal on a 15 second cooldown. It isn’t cheap, but it can bring someone back from the brink of death in a little over a second...
Guest Post: Leveraging Shadowmeld (23)

Penguinator
Our guild tried instructor Razuvious in H naxx and we had to try many different strategies, wiping a bunch or times because we had only 1 priest. Most of the time, i was assigned to raid healing and could heal in a corner above the arena. Whenever our tank died and he started one-shotting our raid (90k on a clothie, 30k on a tank) i shadowmelded and could start rezzing people. This was very useful, especially when the pallies ran out of reagents to DI.

Riverwish
As far as i’m aware they changed it so that when you meld in a raid instance you don’t leave combat so you can’t drink/eat or reset pot cooldowns in a raid bossfight, this is why you have to be quite lucky at escaping combat in a raid situation. I did manage to escape for Patchwerk numerous times but other bosses are trickier, I think it depends really on who your fighting and what room you’re in :) All these things can be done in 5 mans though. Riverwishs...

Vreenash
Thanks for posting this up Phae :) Keep the ideas flowing guys. It’s good to hear the different ideas and situations you’ve all been using shadowmeld in. Here’s another one for you: While leveling my way to 78 (still with the ground mount in northrend), there were quests that required killing a normal mob boss. They were usually in the centre of a town, camp or cave. Instead of killing all the mobs on the way to boss, just mount up and run directly to him....

Bearess
One note about SM that should be brought up. Yes it will bring you out of the fight in a lot of cases, but some bosses can still find you. AOE attacks will bring you out of a SM. So watch that. I learned that the hard way when Instructor Razuvious broke loose, and I skittered off a corner and SM. His next “victim” was too close to me when he let out his “Distrupting Shout” and I became next on his list. Figured I’d drop a line since it is a weakness to SM...

Arcaedus
Great info! I’ve often used SM to get out of combat when soloing but have put it to limited use in the instance/raid environment. @Riverwish: I’m not sure that you have to be the last player alive/targetable. I’ve had both successful and unsuccessful attempts with SM hiding on a wipe. My main example is on Patchwork. When multiple tanks go down and its a sure wipe, you are able to run behind one of the pillars and meld. As long as no one drags Patchy to you he should...
