A new build was released on the PTR today and includes the removal of the earlier nerf to the Lifebloom Heal over Time coefficient! Instead, a 20% nerf is being applied to the final bloom effect. This is exactly what (PvE) players have been clamoring for: a reduction to PvP viability acceptable due to its lessened affect on PvE. And if that weren’t exciting enough, the mana cost of Regrowth is being reduced by 20%!
Lifebloom: the healing coefficient has been reduced. This spell will no longer cause error messages when interacting with Spellsteal or while the Druid is under the effects of a Mind Control.- Lifebloom: The bonus coefficient on the final bloom effect has been reduced by 20%. This spell will no longer cause error messages when interacting with Spellsteal or while the Druid is under the effects of Mind Control.
- Regrowth: The mana cost of this spell has been reduced by approximately 20%.
The change to Regrowth will reduce its mana cost from 845 to 676 in caster form and from 676 to 540 in Tree of Life (611/488 with the updated [Idol of the Crescent Goddess]), essentially making it as cheap in caster form as it once was in Tree Form. With a 25% increase to its overall HPM, it’s become a much more efficient spell than before. With its reduced mana cost, the much increased mana regen in 2.4, and the availability of spell haste itemization, Regrowth may quickly find itself part of healing Druids’ regular rotation. As a front-loaded spell with a HoT component, it may be the fast raid heal many Druids have been wanting. And while the +Healing coefficient for the direct portion is only 16.6%, it sets up the possibility for Swiftmend on its recipient for the next 21 seconds, giving us the potential to instantly heal a raid member every 15 seconds should he take a sudden spike of damage. All around great news!
Obviously, while I’m not celebrating the nerf to the direct portion of Lifebloom, I’m ecstatic that the HoT portion will remain unaffected. And with the change to Empowered Rejuvenation so that it now affects the final bloom of Lifebloom, we should see little to no change (to give you an idea, on the live server my Lifebloom blooms for 1423; on the PTR, it bloomed for 1393).
Thank you for listening, Blizzard. It’s been a tumultuous last couple of weeks, and although I’m not 100% on board with the severity of the PvP nerfs, I’m more than content with your revision to the Lifebloom change. And I’m ecstatic to no longer have to cringe when using Regrowth. Thank you.

Wondering how the new Inscription tradeskill will affect Druids in Wrath of the Lich King? View the full list of currently available and datamined Glyphs for Balance, Feral, and Restoration Druids here!
This is fantastic news! I’m kind of at a loss for words as I really didn’t think Blizzard would reconsider the LB nerf. So, uhh.. yeah.. WOOHOO! The Regrowth change is going to be nice also, I can’t wait.
Win-Win situation, with extra icing with regrowth on top.
/cheers!
Pvp nerfs that affect pve so severely really are silly. Had my fingers crossed for druids.
Now gief +5% healed by lifebloom as resto T6 x4 setbonus!
OK I know I want much :p
Wow…have to say it’s revitalised my views on Blizzard….they actually listen to their customers!
I’m so happy to hear about this
This is SUCH Good news, and a free buff for Regrowth too? Woot!! /treehop
This is good news
You mean now the change will nerf what it was intended to nerf in the first place? What a crazy, mixed-up world we live in.
Seriously though, HUZZAH!!!
And there was much rejoicing throughout the forest…
It’s as if a million voices in the forest suddenly cried out in disbelief and suddenly /danced. ^_^ A rescinding on the LB PvE nurf AND one of the things we have been asking for, making Regrowth cost less mana! Give us an OOC rez and i might just die from a heart attack.
I found out around 9:00 last night and at first i miss heard him and thought they were UPPING the overall nurf to a 20% reduction for the whole spell. You can imagine my disbelief and joy that followed.
“And there was much rejoicing throughout the forest…”
@Vulpix like the OOC rez that might be asking a bit much at the present, hehe. Try asking for that fix in a week. =P
Wow I couldn’t believe this when I saw the notes last night. After lifetap was reverted, I tried to content myself with that at least but this, my goodness, just absolutely wonderful. Now I get to add up haste gear and get 5 ticks of LB that actually tick for something!!! Oh, the joy!
You know, I just have to believe this was Blizzard’s original intent. I sincerely hope so, anyway!
In either event, this is wonderful news for everyone, not just Druids!
When I saw this change last night, I was overjoyed. I had been anxious about the effects of the nerf on PvE raiding and was wondering what I’d have to do to keep myself effective. Fingers crossed for these being the final version of the notes! It’s nice to see that Blizzard will reconsider a class-breaking change, like the LB or lifetap one. Imagine how I felt a couple weeks ago with a resto druid main and an affliction lock alt.
Woot!! I’m so happy for my tree friends!
I’m really happy, specially about the regrowth mana reduction. Seems I can keep spamming it without regrets
Oh good! I’ve been out of the blogging loop the last few weeks (work), but I have been reading everyone elses blogs and was upset that they had implemented such a horrible change. I’m glad they switched it to the final bloom rather than the healing coeficient. I know this helps all my leafy friends!
I am so happy to hear this news, i immediently shared it with the rest of my guild. As the only resto druid in my guild, i made SURE my friends suffered through the pain of the nerf with me ^^
They are relieved to know no more suffereing! I think i’ll hang some lights on myself to celabrate. =D
The mathifications make me head hurt, but I’s most happy that the trees is happy.
@Rethic: lol, you too? I’m one of the 3 resto druids on my guild, the only one that actually cared about the nerf. I simply HAD to QQ about it every single day on guild chat.
I think they’re more relieved than happy for that de-nerf.
I know we’re not supposed to kill the messenger, but hows about hugging the messenger when she brings us good news?
You’ve made me so happy I’m going to go cast regrowth on myself 100 times, just for you! (well, after some sleep…)
Good news! But I have to say, it was rather expected, based on what Bliz did with Warlocks and Shamans. I like the progressive patch approach because things can be tweaked and guided before going live. It is a bit of a roller coaster though. Hopefully we will all learn to do more focused numbers-based feedback and less QQ. Thank you for that, Phae — I have no doubt your analysis made a difference!
Aww yay! I’m glad to hear this. There are going to be a lot of happy trees in my guild. And a happy me now that I am considering leveling up (er… growing) a tree myself.
