Phaelia New Blog Title: AAA Resto(Druid)4Life

Note: Lest anyone else take this post seriously, I would like to point out that it’s flagged as “Humor.” I’m not really changing my blog’s name!

Many former EverQuest players will remember the concept of “alpha loot.” This was basically a way to ensure a more-or-less even distribution of loot from monsters by having each group member loot in alphabetical order (this was long before the days when a game automatically handled loot distribution). And since the alpha looting always began with the letter “A”, you had a statistical advantage in the amount of junk you could collect the closer the first letter of your name was to the beginning of the alphabet. I always joked that I was going to reroll as a character named Aardvarkia.

I am noticing a similar problem with my blog title. Many blogs diplomatically opt to alphabetize their blogrolls. This of course makes perfect sense, but as a blog whose name starts with “R”, Resto4Life is often in the bottom 25% of listings. This isn’t really a problem until there are 20 or more blogs that people have to click through to find you. With the Druid blog community growing like a Tauren at an all-you-can-eat gnome buffet, this is becoming more common. Therefore, I would like to announce the following change to my blog name:

AAA Resto(Druid)4Life

The first “A” stands for “An”, the second “A” for “Absolutely”, and the third “A” for “Amicable”. The “Druid” is silent but really brings it all together, I think. Anyway, if you could all update your blogrolls as soon as possible, I’d appreciate it. ^_^

    Nice Phae =P

Ahhh Everquest, feeling so nostalgic right now. The one thing they need to put in WoW is SoW and turning your whole party into wolves! =) (And of course gnomish clerics…oops, i mean pallys)

Well I changed your blog’s name in my blogroll, but I didn’t change it’s position.

I’m fine with renaming any blog, but if it’s for good reasons. Simply because you want to be first on people’s blogroll, is a bit shallow in my mind.
I hope you won’t start a chain reaction here so I won’t have to rename my blog to “aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa yet another warlock nerf”. Or imagine “An Absolutely Amicable Awesome Big Bear Butt Blogger”.

Seriously… I wouldn’t say anything if you came up with a decent name, but this just looks awful. Sorry.

@Zackoria: My friend and I were talking the other day about how glad we are they didn’t put anything like SoW in the game. Playing a Ranger meant being asked 20 times a day probably to give someone SoW.

    @Ratshag: Hahaha - thanks! =)

    @Karthis: You. suck. ^_^

@Horns: Sorry to offend. The post was labelled “humor” for reason. =) I wouldn’t really change my blog’s name. I’d have to buy an entirely new domain, after all. ;-)

Since I don’t want to look like a completely incompetent idiot, you’re now #1 on my blogroll. Hmm on second thought, it doesn’t make it any better, I’m still tarded.
Now tell me, what does a tard have to do to get on your blogroll?

I don’t have a lot of blogs on my list right now, but once I get more I assure you you’re going to be near the top just because I see you as one of the best resto druid blogs out there (and the only one I read religiously).

First thing I thought when I saw the triple-A’s was, however…Triple-A. You going to get my keys out of my car for me? :D

@Horns: Asking is generally sufficient if I don’t happen to notice you before. =) I will add you this week!

@Bellwether: Awww … thank you! Your blog looks great so I’ll be adding it here shortly, as well.

You know…I am not sure I can order my blogroll other than alphabetically. (However, it does appear you’re just about in the middle of the Druids, on mine–I leave it to you for the exhaustive list of druidic blogs.) :)

And I think Karthis did that, just to lessen the competition from you. On his own blog, yet! ;)

Well at least put a group buff for cat form then and gnomish pallys. I loved that group wolf spell, it was just so cool and gnome pallys would be just funny =) Gnome clerics may have had the lowest Wisdom for a cleric but they were just plain awesome.

@Matticus: If you talked to anyone in my guild, I doubt they would use the words “alcoholic” and “anonymous” with regard to me in the same sentence. “Phaelia, have you been drinking again?” is not an uncommon question over Ventrilo, especially on Kara nights. ;-)

@Kestrel: Haha! The bum. You might be on to something …

@Zackoria: Gnome paladins indeed be awesome. I don’t understand why they can have Warriors but not Paladins. Then again, they can’t be priests, either but can be Warlocks so maybe the Light just doesn’t like them.

Living Seed, Replenish, and Gift of the Earthmother (12)

Kalfurion
Hi Phae, long time no talk. I want to point out that I’m 0/0/71 and I love it. I don’t really find the talents in the balance tree to be that useful for my needs. I’m in a raiding guild as I’m sure you know and the three talents you spoke about suit my needs so well. My rogues, DK’s and our feral druid love me when I keep a rejuv on them for replenish. I’ve joined pugs and people look at my spec and make silly jokes and I don’t know why,...

Kiryn
I really like Replenish, personally. I find myself with far more mana regen than I need in most boss fights, so mana conservation isn’t much of an issue for me. I don’t even know why I carry mana potions if I never use them, and I’m far more likely to be innervating the priests than myself. I often treat rejuv-swiftmend as a near-instant 8k heal on a 15 second cooldown. It isn’t cheap, but it can bring someone back from the brink of death in a little over a second...

Perrin
Phae, One thing that needs to be pointed out clearly to everyone is the misconception about “After spell haste” and the tooltip for GotEM. GotEM removes 0.3 seconds from your GCD. It doesn’t matter if its applied after or before spell haste, because its a factor of the 1.5 BASE GCD. Spell Haste is also a factor of the 1.5 BASE GCD. Therefore they don’t affect each other. The tooltip says 20%, but unlike the usual use of % based talents, the reduction is additive...

Phaelia
@Flynx: Thanks for the link - I’ve added it above to help flesh out the section about GotEM and spell haste! And I’m never sure whether information like this would be better suited to the Healing role forum or the Druid forum. >.< @Pike: I’m glad to hear that you’re still leveling your Druid. I imagine there is a lot of overlap between Hunter fans and Druid fans! (After all, as a Druid, you’re your own pet!) @Pfooti: Thank you! I’m glad you found it...

Felkan
@Felkan (me): Looking at Nature’s Grace a bit more, I have to assume that the 15 second Nature’s Grace buff is *not* consumed by casting one of our “instant” spells, correct? Which means I don’t have to “react” to the Nature’s Grace proc, as I would assume I’d cast regrowth, nourish, etc. at least once within that 15s window, correct? That means I’d most likely benefit from the buff without taking extra measures to gain the...
Guest Post: Leveraging Shadowmeld (21)

Vreenash
Thanks for posting this up Phae :) Keep the ideas flowing guys. It’s good to hear the different ideas and situations you’ve all been using shadowmeld in. Here’s another one for you: While leveling my way to 78 (still with the ground mount in northrend), there were quests that required killing a normal mob boss. They were usually in the centre of a town, camp or cave. Instead of killing all the mobs on the way to boss, just mount up and run directly to him....

Bearess
One note about SM that should be brought up. Yes it will bring you out of the fight in a lot of cases, but some bosses can still find you. AOE attacks will bring you out of a SM. So watch that. I learned that the hard way when Instructor Razuvious broke loose, and I skittered off a corner and SM. His next “victim” was too close to me when he let out his “Distrupting Shout” and I became next on his list. Figured I’d drop a line since it is a weakness to SM...

Arcaedus
Great info! I’ve often used SM to get out of combat when soloing but have put it to limited use in the instance/raid environment. @Riverwish: I’m not sure that you have to be the last player alive/targetable. I’ve had both successful and unsuccessful attempts with SM hiding on a wipe. My main example is on Patchwork. When multiple tanks go down and its a sure wipe, you are able to run behind one of the pillars and meld. As long as no one drags Patchy to you he should...
2008: A Retrospective (9)

Ever since I came back 1/2 year ago from a forced 2-year hiatus from WoW, I’ve been frequenting your blog. You’ve provided us with a wealth of great information and analysis. Thanks to you, my Grid actually gives me useful information beyond how much healing I need to pour into the box. Also, your comments on the Belkin Nostromo N52 TE got me interested enough to try one out for myself. So far, it has improved my healing response time and even saved my groups from a few...
Pre-Raid Gear: Head, Shoulder, Chest, Hands, Legs, Feet (24)

Actually Phaelia, I think the new starter PvP sets are the crafted ones now. Theres one for cloth, leather, mail and plate. They give pretty good stats and have high resilience on them. They moved the starter pvp gear off of reputation vendors and into crafting professions. Hopefully that will give the new arena players the starter gear they are after and let them pole dance thier way to a new rating ;) The outcast set is so good I got it crafted at 80 to use as my starter heroic set! :)
