From the makers of the Chickenhead Helm of Stats too Uber to be Ignored comes an entire armor set of similar ridiculousness. You can preview the much larger version over at MMO Champion. I particularly like the little green panties worn over furry brown pants. It looks like something from G.I. Joe. And to think I have been complaining how bored I am with Primal Mooncloth …

Tired of the shapeshifting into the same low-quality forms that have been in the game since day 1? Andrige has created a beautiful selection of modified form skins to make your life as a Druid a lot more enjoyable.
Stupid question. I’ve always wondered but forgot to ask. Is there no PMC equivilent for resto druid leatherworkers?
There sort of is. Tribal Leatherworkers can craft the Windhawk set (http://www.wowhead.com/?search=windhawk), but there’s just no comparison. Portions of the item budget are allotted to spell damage and the set bonus (8MP5) is terrible when compared to that of the Primal Mooncloth set. As if that weren’t bad enough, it reuses the skin and colors of the ugly level 50+ Ironfeather set (dark blue, feathered crop top – like something out of an 80s movie). I’m not sure why Leatherworkers were given so little relative to what was given to Blacksmiths and Tailors, but I’m really glad I have Tailoring. =)
The closest item set Druids can make is the Windhawk Armor, exclusive to the Tribal Leatherworking subset. Primarily a leather caster armor set, it has silly item stats, in that it has 50%-75% damage to its healing capability. Fortunately, it also has suitable stamina and armor, perfect for necessary bearshifting for surviving aggro.
Windhawk Haurberk
Windhawk Belt
Windhawk Bracers
PMC is better suited for committed healing druids, as it has significantly more +heal and mana regeneration.

Leatherworking is strange profession, and could use ANOTHER revamp. As it stands, Tribal Leatherworking only serves 2 specs for the 4(6 with DPS warriors and paladinss who choose to wear mail) classes that benefit from mail and leather. Dragonscale serves all mail needs, 3 kinds of hunters and 3 kinds of shamans. Elemental, strangely enough, has nothing for elemental shamans, and is primarily for feral druids and all the rogues.
Given druthers, I’d mix it up. Elemental Leatherworking would serve Balance druids, Elemental shamans, Subtlety rogues and Survival hunters. Tribal Leatherworking would provide gear for Ferals, Combat rogues, Restoration Shamans, and Beastmaster hunters. Dragonscale Leatherworking would collect the rest: Restoration druids, Assassination rogues, Enhancement Shamans, and Marksmen.
Right now, there’s a lot of overlap with gear needs, and yet, nothing that screams YES! LW NOW! I’d love to see hunters farming for a set that improves pet stats while increasing their own, or has 200% agility as a USE option.
All in due time, I assume.
Oh yuck – that’s a nasty set. I think I’m glad that there appears to be almost no bear tanking drops in Zul’Aman!
This new expansion is going to increase the ugliness of the raiding WoW community by 110%!!!
God, that’s ugly.
I agree that PMC is a far better set than Windhawk (I have both), but the Windhawk bracers in particular are quite nice. With a BT or heroic gem, they’re fairly on par with Grove Bands and available far earlier. The other pieces are far inferior to the PMC equivalents, but they make a passable stamina set for fights like Doomwalker.
Where the set really shines is in a Balance/Resto healing build. It’s not my cup of tea, but I’ve met people who can easily use such build to stay competitive in single target healing and still put out 300 dps or so.
@Urthona: Great review of Windhawk and the Leatherworking tradeskill as a whole. Much more coherent than my irritated ramblings! I hate the Leatherworking skill. I’ve had it since the first day, thinking how cool it would be to be able to craft my own armor. After three years, the only thing I’ve made for myself has been resist gear and a set of Clefthoof in case I ever wanted to try out tanking. (I created it for the skillups.) The Drums of Restoration will be a nice option with the upcoming patch, but I’d rather have something on par with PMC.
@Karthis: There aren’t any bear tanking drops in ZA, but aren’t there bear tanking items from Heroic badges? As far as I’m aware, the Badge of Justice loot was desgiend by the same group of “artists” as those who created the ZA loot. Not sure why the big floaty, glowy light creature would be selling stuff made of grass, though. ^_^
@Hecuba: Hmmm … maybe I need to take a second look at those Windhawk Bracers if they’re as good as you say. Thanks for the heads up!

Well, there’s always the theory that the Night Elves’ moon goddess is a Naaru, and Uther’s “Silver Hand” is one interpretation of his close encounter with E’lun. So if Malorne is a Zoa, and so are the captured spirits in ZA and ZG… G’eras is only 3 steps of separation from grassy mud-covered clothing.
I agree, this set is, to be blunt, fugly. Just awful. What were they thinking? The rogue and caster sets look pretty nice and detailed. I wish I could have one unique, stylish set that is not green/brown. T3 is awesome, T5 is also great. But I’d like to have variety. For instance, they seem to really go all out for warlocks. They got those cool Voidwalker type sets with the swirly stuff, the crazy spikes and skulls set (T5?), and now the demon wing set (T6?). Very nice, unique design to those sets in my opinion.
My guess is they make our sets last, and having run out ideas, stare out the window at the parking lot or small patch of grass and trees and go “Aha! Druid Tier X”.
Yeah … someone really needs to tell Blizzard that there are colors that appear in nature that aren’t green and brown. The Season 2 Arena set was a nice departure. Dark blue and orange like a dusk sky and beautiful little purple irises blooming on my shoulders. Definitely going to be keeping that whole set for cosmetic (and pride) reasons.
You’re right, Megami; Warlocks do have nice sets, but in my mind the best sets of all have always been those created for Priests. Angel wings? Yes, please. I do hope that some day these textures are reused (maybe in future expansions the way they reskinned Cenarion and Stormrage) so I can also “get my wings.”
And Urthona, you’re going to make me have to use WoWWiki to find out what you’re talking about, aren’t you? =) Where did you learn all that lore?
I will totally get the shoulders and hat just for looks. So awesome!
@Magna: If you are referring to the Zul’Aman set, you’re a sick, sick puppy. And you will henceforth be referred to as “Willing Chickenhead.” ^_^ If you’re referring to Season 2, good for you. I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of mine. And the shoulders and crown look awesome with the purple Festival Dress from the Lunar Festival.
