Phaelia A Perfectly Piscine Present

Like Keredria, I’m among the fortunate minority of players who enjoys the Fishing tradeskill. I find it to be not only relaxing but lucrative. An hour’s worth of dedication can provide enough piscine consumables to cover a week’s worth of raiding, often with enough to share with needful guildmates. I primarily fish the Sporefish and Steampump Debris pools of Serpent Lake in Zangarmarsh, gathering a stack or two of Sporefish to bake up into Blackened Sporefish (which, according to previous calculations, are twice as valuable to me as Golden Fish Sticks).

Today is my birthday, and knowing my love for Fishing, my friend Valenna camped E-Bay for two weeks to get me the following:

Fishing Chair
Binds when picked up
Use: Right Click to set up a comfy fishing chair.

This item is acquired by redeeming a code from a special card sometimes included in decks of the “Through the Dark Portal” expansion to the World of Warcraft TCG. As you might imagine, it’s a pretty rare item, and I’m the first I’ve seen on Scarlet Crusade to have one. A few things I’ve discovered in my brief time using it:

  • Its duration is limited to three minutes. Unfortunately, if you’re in the middle of a cast when it poofs, you’ll lose your line.
  • No one else can sit in your chair.
  • If you set up your chair too far into the water, you may not be able to sit in it, even if you were able to stand in that spot.
  • The chair can be used anywhere that’s considered “outdoors.”

I really love my chair. It’s going to make fishing that much more interesting and enjoyable. Along those same lines, wouldn’t it be great if Druids in Cat Form could catch fish by swimming through pools and activating an ability? The necessary dynamics are already in the game and first seen in the Red Snapper – Very Tasty! quest in the Draenei starting area. I really enjoyed that quest on my Draenei, and it seems a shame not to reuse the work that went into coding it.

Search E-Bay for a Fishing Chair of your own!

Curious – how do you get the shots of two different models? Like the cat swimming with the fish — do you do two separate wow model viewer shots, delete the background, and put them together after, or is there a way to load multiple models?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes. We had a Heroes-premier party with ice cream and cake which was a lot of fun.

@Ego: Yes, I take two different pictures using the model viewer then remove the backgrounds. Sometimes I get a little CRAZY and do some cloning. I am teh master of copy and paste! copy and paste! copy and paste! copy and paste! copy and paste! :-)

    Grats on the birthday ding!

However, the jealous fisherman in me requires that I be a little bit upset that you have a fishing chair and I don’t :(

Happy Birthday! What a great friend you have. :) I too enjoy fishing and am rarely able to convince many of my other WoW friends that standing in one place and clicking can be relaxing… but it is!

    Enjoy your chair. :)

Congratulations! Cute baby!

I’m so late that little Colin ain’t swimming on his mini-shirt anymore by now. And Mr. Phae and the classic “drooling daddy” face, priceless. Grats Phae and family!

First I want to say congratulations on your new baby boy, albeit a little late. As a Druid myself, formerly Resto even, I found this to be pretty awesome. I had my first child in October, also a boy. He just happens to have the exact same onesie that you’re little boy is wearing in the video. It’s my favorite outfit of his because I am my son’s superhero! As a side note, I hope you’re enjoying your new seed. They grow like weeds though and you start wondering...

I certainly never looked that good when I sprouted my seedlings. Thanks for all the great advice on this site. Things have changed a lot over the years and 60 was the highest you could go when I last played before this year. I got back into the game again about 6 months ago after taking a 4 year break when I was pregnant with my daughter.

@Terrorpaw: This information is vastly outdated. Notice that the article indicates patch 3.0.8 while the current version is 3.3. The amount of haste needed for resto druids to reach 1 second GCD has been shuffled considerably. I’ve been poking around on this site and I find it likely that much of the information here might be outdated.

Terrorpaw
Not to distract from your information, but this is confuddling to me. Everyone on the druid forums just touts that with CF and GOTEM you should see 735 haste on your character sheet? Are they just dead wrong?

Ck
This is actually really useful – thanks for this! Is it still current and user friendly? I somehow managed to get up to 740 Haste without trying, and even with scrapping all haste enchants and gems – I am still languishing on 723 :(

Over a year and a half later this post is still worth it’s weight in gold! Hope you and your family are all well Phae. :) *hugs* .-= Softi´s last blog ..Dum di dum di dum =-.
Ark Inventory (2)

Kengur
I’ve been using this addon since I started playing some over a year now. I can’t imagine wow without it since. To swap bags you can right click the one you wish to free up and select ‘filter’. Then drag all the stuff into another bag. Also you could just swap a bag from inventory to your bank still full of stuff.
