@Paw: I've added the valuation of Spirit vs. MP5 with and without Blessing of Kings to the Revaluing Spirit article (which also includes values for Spirit at the 2.3 value of Intensity).

Don’t forget Kings! I always multiply Spirit by 1.265 when calculating item values. Oh, and Priests can increase their Spirit through talents too!

5% Enlightenment
5% Spirit of Redemption

It *is* possible to get both for a total of 10% more Spirit, however you’d have to miss out on Spiritual Guidance, so it’s a very unlikely spec.

Nicely done! I like your summary, too – it’s very unfortunate that we spend so much of our time inside the FSR – my priest in particular would love to weigh spirit higher than MP5.

That bangle will be mine, though.

Great article! It’s mostly stuff I knew, but it definitely bears reading again. As I don’t play a caster, it’s not something I would generally spend time writing about, but I know there are a LOT of folks out there that don’t understand how to determine which they need more of: SPI or mp5. A definite Must Read for any caster, not just healers/druids! Nicely done!

Well, I have a priest, but no druid. However, I found your discussion very readable (maybe because I’m alone in the house at the moment, with zero chance of interruption, and I was able to really concentrate??).

Thank you, Matticus. I sometimes code things in a hurry because I’m more concerned about getting my thoughts out, and those sorts of mistakes are popping up more and more often as a result.

You’re right – Spirit vs. MP5 is a common topic, especially among healers. But I had not seen it analyzed from a Druid’s point of view before (which is somewhat different from that of a Priest). I also wanted to do the analysis for myself for when people ask the question on the forums.

Great read though. The only reason I haven’t done anything about Spirit and MP5 is that everyone else has already done and analyzed it to death.
