@Treespaz: Its pretty much essential for an arena healer, really. Your partner can and will be killed if the opposition gets a full duration fear/cyclone-chain/blind etc etc off on you - it really can be a game-breaker. In addition, it removes judgment of justice. It also has a nice lump of resilience!

It was the first item I bought on my druid. Sure early on you're still probably going to lose if you have inferior gear, but the trinket will definately keep you in the fight longer (as you'll have limited +healing early on you will be spending more time within LoS healing, thus giving the enemy more of a cc window). If your partner is good at playing defensively it can make the difference, but mostly your fights will rely on you controlling the enemy, as assuming your partner also has poor gear, he'll go down quick. Thats the general approach I've been taking anyway, and the trinket definately has paid off.

@Treespaz: Generally because Druids are so squishy when we are caught in caster form. While we CAN shapeshift out of most movement impairing effects (I still think Judgment of Justice should count!), doing so assumes that we aren't otherwise impaired. And we're quite soft when being stunlocked and/or feared. The PvP trinket can be invaluable for breaking a Rogue's stunlock (or Warrior's lucky mace stun) long enough to shapeshift and get away or to bunker down in Bear Form.
