Downranking Rebirth to Save Money

Welcome back!
That’ll be 50 silver.
Porlin of Terenas asks an interesting question on the official forums today, wanting to know how to write a macro that will subjectively choose a Rebirth rank based upon whether or not the caster is in combat. The highest rank of Rebirth requires a 50 silver Flintweed Seed, making it the most expensive reagent-driven spell in the game. Rank 1 of the same spell only requires a Maple Seed, costing around 7 silver 2 silver. If you have an inventory slot to spare (and sometimes make use of your combat resurrection spell out of combat), this technique could add up to a signficant savings over time:
/cast [nocombat] Rebirth(Rank 1); Rebirth;

“a Maple Seed, costing around 7 silver,”

I believe it is bought from the reagent vendor at 2 silver. Thank you very much for this, I’ll definitely start using this idea =)
Thank you very much for the correction. I noticed that a stack of Maple Seeds weren’t as much as I was expecting when I picked them up earlier this week, but I admit I didn’t pay much attention to the vendor’s price! Thanks again!
I’ve been using this idea for some time, and it’s extremely nice to not be burning half a gold each time I have to BR someone out of combat (like last night, when the pally of our group bit the dust while I was healing). Amusingly, he noted how little life he had once I rezzed him, and asked on Vent, “What, did you use Rank 1 Battle Rez?” “Heck yeah. Saves me 48 silver each time I rez your butt.”
I did have to change the macro a bit to get it to work. Mine is:
/cast [nocombat] Rebirth(Rank 1); Rebirth;
Thanks, Mynd! I’ve updated the original post to reflect your change to the macro.
As of the 3.02 patch, we now have a out-of-combat resurrection spell: Revive (requires no reagents!)
The above macro now becomes…
/cast [nocombat] Revive; Rebirth
@Alathi: So funny you would post this today. I was just thinking about it last night when I was selling off my old Maple Seeds.
Great idea to modify the macro!
Also ever since the inscription proffession came out. Druids just have to get that minor glyph for rebirth and we no longer need a regeant for it.Also another thing about replenishing very little life while rezzing. There’s a major glyph for rebirth that replenishes 100% life.
@Arliasun: Great point. I’m so cheap this Glyph (Unburdened Rebirth) will definitely be one I pick up.
